In a new article in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, “COVID-19: an Imperative to Bridge the Gap Between Medicine And Public Health,” Dr. Alvin I. Mushlin discusses the detrimental gap between public health and medical care, as further revealed by the COVID-19 pandemic in America. Dr. Mushlin, a professor of population health sciences and medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, notes that diagnosis, treatment of diseases and prevention of disease are all necessary to control outbreaks.
