Ayaka Sanui

Ayaka Sanui is a student and ambassador in the MS in Biostatistics and Data Science program. She completed her undergraduate education in Japan, where she developed an interest in understanding biological systems at the molecular level and identifying approaches to extract insights from complex data. Ayaka now enjoys learning in an interdisciplinary environment alongside peers who bring a breadth of cultural perspectives and academic backgrounds. She particularly values the program’s hands-on, applied approach to coursework, which allows for a deeper understanding of both the theoretical foundations of statistical methods and their practical applications in public health. Motivated by the potential of computational and AI-driven methods to advance drug discovery, infectious disease research, and health care decision-making, Ayaka plans to pursue a PhD, and conduct research at the intersection of data science, genomics, and public health.
