Zhe (Terrence) Yan is a student and ambassador in the MS in Health Informatics program. He completed his undergraduate studies in financial engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and is driven to address information asymmetry, whereby unequal access to information can create market inefficiencies. As a master’s student, he is navigating the complex information frontier at Weill Cornell Medicine. The MS in Health Informatics program allows Terrence to understand health care systems operations, clinical decision-making workflows, and the use of medical innovation in real-world scenarios. The AI curriculum has sharpened his command of code and algorithms, enabling him to leverage data science to identify technologies with strong real-world potential. Currently, Terrence is implementing these skills through his capstone project. He is working with a health care company to build an NLP pipeline and analyze unstructured clinical records from public health databases. After graduation, he hopes to pursue a PhD and develop system models that blend AI, health care, and financial theory to improve resource allocation in aging societies.
