The Department of Population Health Sciences at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City seeks to fill a Postdoctoral Associate position in the Division of Biostatistics.
The Department of Population Health Sciences (https://hpr.weill.cornell.edu/) is the flagship population health research department of Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. The Department is multi-disciplinary with substantial research strengths across a variety of areas including biostatistics, epidemiology, health policy and economics, health data analytics, health informatics, comparative effectiveness & outcomes research, and healthcare delivery science. The Department is home to six Divisions.
The Division of Biostatistics is a team of faculty and research staff committed to advancing the field of biostatistics through the development, application, and teaching of cutting-edge statistical methods. Our division fosters a culture of excellence in scholarship, collaboration, and education, with a mission to drive meaningful and transformative advancements in population health, clinical outcomes, and healthcare service delivery. By leveraging rigorous biostatistical methodologies, we aim to inform and optimize strategies for disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, ultimately contributing to improved health and well-being across diverse communities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will be mentored by Dr. Arindam RoyChoudhury and co-mentored by Dr. Nathaniel Hupert. The Postdoctoral Associate will develop and apply statistical and computational methods for large-scale, complex and structured microbial genomic datasets, specifically SARS-COV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) data collected from infected patients from the ongoing pandemic. They will develop statistical tools to track the pandemic using phylogenetic trees, and create statistical packages based on such tools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a closely related field.
- Proficient in R and Python.

Salary established below per annum commensurate with qualifications experience:
$75,000-$88,000
Weill Cornell Medicine provides the above salary range in compliance with the New York City law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range listed is for full‐time employment not including bonuses or benefits. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, specialty, training, and hospital/community needs.
