Postdoctoral Associate: Data-Driven Health Services and Policy Research

Position Description:

The postdoctoral associate will engage in mentored research in data-driven health services and policy research. Key topics include social determinants of health, end-of-life care and long-term services and support, and integrated care models for Medicare-Medicaid dual eligibles. This position will be supported by several recently awarded grants from the NIH and private foundations.

The postdoctoral associate also has opportunities to explore other research topics by leveraging the interdisciplinary environment and a strong data infrastructure of the Department of Population Health Sciences, including nationally representative samples of Medicare and Medicaid claims data, commercial claims data, and EHR data from multiple health systems.

The postdoctoral associate will be supervised and mentored by Dr. Yongkang Zhang, assistant professor at Weill Cornell Medicine. The postdoctoral associate has mentorship opportunities provided by Dr. Beth McGinty, Chief of the Division of Health Policy and Economics, and Dr. Chang Su, assistant professor of health informatics. The postdoctoral associate will also meet, collaborate, and receive additional support from investigators with complementary expertise in medicine, health economics, and data science. This postdoctoral opportunity is further enriched by the research infrastructure and collaboration opportunities from the Cornell Health Policy Center and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence for Digital Health at Weill Cornell Medicine.

The postdoctoral associate will lead or collaborate on analysis using large-scale claims data and EHR data linked to social determinants of health at the individual or neighborhood level. Example analytic topics include identifying social drivers for cardiovascular conditions in New York City using mixed effects models and machine learning models, evaluating the impact of enrollment in integrated Medicare-Medicaid care models using difference-in-differences methods, and identifying patterns of end-of-life trajectories using clustering methods. The postdoctoral associate is encouraged to explore mentored funding opportunities

This position is available now and will be open until it is filled.
