COVID-19 Models for Hospital Surge Capacity Planning: A Systematic Review

In a new Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness article, Nathaniel Hupert, MD, MPH, associate professor of population health sciences, and colleagues review models that project both caseload and hospital capacity requirements over time during the COVID-19 pandemic. The researchers selected six models that met pre-defined criteria. Their findings can provide information to physicians, hospital administrators, emergency response personnel and governmental agencies when preparing scenario-based plans for responding to the COVID-19 or similar types of outbreak.
