Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position in Causal Inference

The Department of Population Health Sciences at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City seeks to fill a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in causal inference in the Division of Biostatistics.

The Department of Population Health Sciences is the flagship population health research department of Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. The Department is multi-disciplinary with substantial research strengths across a variety of areas including biostatistics, epidemiology, health policy and economics, health data analytics, health informatics, comparative effectiveness & outcomes research, and healthcare delivery science. The Department is home to six Divisions.

The Division of Biostatistics is a team of faculty and research staff committed to advancing the field of biostatistics through the development, application, and teaching of cutting-edge statistical methods. Our division fosters a culture of excellence in scholarship, collaboration, and education, with a mission to drive meaningful and transformative advancements in population health, clinical outcomes, and healthcare service delivery. By leveraging rigorous biostatistical methodologies, we aim to inform and optimize strategies for disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, ultimately contributing to improved health and well-being across diverse communities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will be co-mentored by Dr. Mila Sun and Dr. Judy Zhong. The postdoctoral research fellow will conduct independent and collaborative research in causal inference, with considerable flexibility in research focus. Research topics include transportability and generalizability, and external validation in multimodal biomedical data (e.g., EHRs, imaging, and genomics); causal AI and causal machine learning methods; and methodological research related to clinical trials. We seek an individual with a strong background in statistics, biostatistics, or a closely related quantitative field, and demonstrated experience with methodological research. The postdoctoral researcher will develop statistical methods and computational tools, contribute to scholarly publications, and collaborate with biomedical researchers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a closely related field.
  2. Strong background in causal inference and statistical methodology.
  3. Demonstrated experience in AI-based methods.
  4. Proficiency in R or Python.
  5. Experience with multimodal data is desirable but not required.

Salary established below per annum commensurate with qualifications experience: 
$80,000-$95,000

The salary range listed is for full‐time employment not including bonuses or benefits. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, specialty, training, and hospital/community needs.
