The Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program

The Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program (ECRIP) trains fellows in advanced health services research methodology and prepares them to be leaders in academic medicine. Fellows are typically physicians who have completed a clinical residency and/or have or are concurrently completing a master's degree (in healthcare policy, clinical investigation, clinical epidemiology or biomedical informatics).

Residency in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine

The Department of Population Health Sciences offers a two-year ACGME-accredited Residency in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine program that strives to produce leaders in modern public health, either to pursue careers in academia, healthcare policy or advocacy. The ideal candidate for this program is a residency program graduate who is looking for additional training in preventive medicine (i.e., in Pediatrics, Medicine, or Surgery).

The WCM Preventive Medicine Residency training includes clinical activities, research opportunities, and educational opportunities. Preventive Medicine Residents will enroll in masters studies (depending on match with candidate and available resources) in either:

    • A curriculum vitae
    • A detailed statement about your interest in public health and preventive medicine
    • Transcripts from medical school, college and any other post-secondary programs in which you enrolled (unofficial copies are acceptable for the initial application)—official copies in final application
    • Medical Student Performance Evaluation (Dean’s Letter)—sent directly from your medical school
    • United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX) scores—official score report.
    • At least three letters of recommendation (on official letterhead and sent directly from the letter writers), including:
      • Program Director letters from each residency training program in which you have been enrolled
      • Two letters from clinical, research, or other supervisors.
      • If you are currently employed, one letter from your supervisor
    • Additional materials to illustrate your interests and activities (e.g., publications, presentations, residency research papers, or products from other projects).
